The rain was unexpected, but nice. The weather cooled down nicely and the air was clear this morning.

The mayday holiday was nice. I took some days off to get a real holiday.  It gave me time to fix the laptop, buy some new clothes, and still go out and look around.

I think I've solved the school problem, so I'll have a visa and worthwhile employment next year. Gotta sign the contracts though.

 

Otherwise things seem ok.

 

Went to TanZhe Si 潭柘寺 over the holiday. It was nice to see the old place again. It's been there a long time. Supposedly it was there before Beijing was a city.  That's really a long time. It was funny how superficial everything seemed though, the age of the temple, and visitors paying to hang little paper parasols for luck.  Wonder how long they've been doing that?  Who could know?

 

The temple helped me keep perspective. Immediate problems seem so important, but in a few years what will they matter? A long view of things can help.
