I just read an article about online Social Networks that said people who were most active online really have the poorest social networks in real life. Might explain why as I got better at speaking chinese I stopped blogging. interesting idea, anyway. I just read The Earth is Flat, by Thomas Friedman. Interesting book, considering my job. The book is mostly about globalization, and Friedman talks about people developing skills that transfer from place to plae. In Curlys immortal words " I resemble that remark". 2月20日 New Year Made it through the New Year holiday. I got an Asus EEE PC to replace my beloved Psion. It's much like the Psion, the display and keypad are a bit smaller, but it's got 3 USB ports and Linux for the OS, so it serves. I've been carrying it everywhere, using it like a PDA/Laptop/Ebook reader. Neat. Looking at my last entry, there are a few changes. I work for VanceInfo now (www.vanceinfo.com). I'm once again a PeopleSoft Consultant. I liked teaching at Tsinghua, but the visa issue and all decided me to bolt. I'll post a pic or two, maybe sometime this year. :) 9月24日 The Great Wall ( again)I went to the Great Wall again. This time I went with some Indonesian students. It was a fun time. I took some pictures, which I'll put here. 7月28日 Hot and wetIt's raining today, but still hot. So I just go from one air-conditioned place to another. It seems odd this summer. I have to talk to folks by MSN. People went off to Australia and the US and Guangzhou and etc. Is anyone still in Beijing??
Anyway the new class seems ok, I get a chance to rest up some so I'm finally getting over the cold.
I've been settling in the new place, finding out the neighborhood and once more studying chinese. I can almost talk with people again. I was worried, my chinese was actually getting worse. Lately I'm finding that I can explain myself to people though, so it 's improving again.
Not much news, otherwise. Life is quiet. 7月16日 Hell on wheelsWhew. I finished at Central, caught a cold, moved, started the IT class at Tsinghua. Been kinda busy.
Oh, yeah. Registered at the Police station. so I'm legal. :)
I'm also really tired. The cold wiped me out, the move and other stuff just have me beat. I'm taking it easy, resting and walking when it's not too hot. Should be back to normal pretty soon.
Life seems like a roller coaster. for once I'm coasting. :)
I still enjoy Beijing. This area doesn't have the fun neighborhoods like further east, but it's still friendly.
Off to home, I'm already tired again.
Hey, whoever's in Beijing, nows a good time for a get-together. I'm not very busy.
